Find a full list of trash pickup schedules and recycling centers below. If you are a visitor, please consult your rental guidelines and follow their trash disposal recommendations. During inclement weather, follow the town annoucements to see if trash pickup will commence. Trash and recycle bins must be placed at the edge of the roadway with the lid opening facing the road. RECYCLING CENTERS

On the Outer Banks we have a total of seven different recycling compounds, where you can bring your recycling for disposal. Most locations do not provide curbside pickup services directly, but recommend private pickup services instead. The Dare County Public Works Compound, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, and Buxton are all recycling centers owned by Dare County. The county does not provide a curbside pickup service. However, people in these areas can contract with a private recycling services company.

Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, and Nags Head are all town owned recycling centers. These areas also do not provide curbside pickup services but you can easily hire private services through the town websites. Consult your local town about recycling pickup times for private companies. Southern Shores provides curbside recycling pickup every Friday. Duck provides curbside recycling pickup every Monday from May through October, and every first and third Monday of the month November through April.
